Happy Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is approaching us this coming weekend and many of us scramble last minute to find a suitable gift for mom. It became a National Holiday in the United States in 1914 as a day to honor mothers, mother-hood and maternal bonds. Most often we celebrate these recognitions with a gift along a similar feminine motif.
Mother’s Day has become one of the biggest days for flower and greeting card sales. But flowers only last about a week, and as for the woman that I honor as my mother, she deserves a much more lasting gift of appreciation. I know that my mom hardly ever asks for anything and when prompted “What would you like for Mother’s Day” she often replies with “Only to know that you are happy;” which I am, but I find to be a comp-out of a gift.
