What does it take to be a perfumer?
You can find almost any product with a scented version, but ever wonder where one becomes a “perfumer?” Where one develops the skills to notably create the perfumes that we love? One of these places is the Givaudan Perfumery School located near Paris, France. Here, students are primed to be great “noses” and recognize the creation of a successful fragrance.
Many famous perfumers have passed through this school since it’s opening in 1946 and it continues to “hone noses” of current students and “are expected to master 500 of [1,300 raw materials] substances ‘like the letters of the alphabet.’” However, emphasis is placed on invention, not memorization.

Bizarre Fragrances
Ever smell a fragrance and scrunch your nose up in distaste? Ever wish you could have a bottle of a scent that some may consider an unconventional cologne or “odd”? I have come across a list of 10 of the “World’s Strangest Perfumes and Colognes” compiled by FlavorWire. The list includes some really bizarre fragrances that leaves one thinking why? Who the market is for these scents is beyond me.
Here are some of my favorite from the list:

Smell like a brand new Apple Macbook - because there is nothing like that whif you get upon the first time you boot it up!

Don’t just eat the luxurious crustacean, smell like it too.

Because nothing says “romantic evening” quite like a funeral home.
Wondering what else is possibly on the list? You can check out the rest here. Then tell us what you think - which ones are you most interested in smell? Which are you appalled at their existence? Which are you going to wear out on the town tonight?

Lady Gaga’s Anticipated Perfume
Lady Gaga has confirmed rumors of her new perfume “Fame.” With rumored descriptions of the scent being that of an “expensive hooker” I am immediately intrigued as to how this scent will be marketed. As such, it is Lady Gaga, possibly the only celeb who can get away with slapping her name on a bottle and enticing people to try it by conjuring desires of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. Never the less, I am sure that the unending rumors of what exactly it will smell like will be enough to make it a success. Not to mention the intriguing factor of the fragrant liquid being black which supposedly will change color once applied to the skin and leaked images of the bottle design are pretty cool too.
So what are your thoughts? Will you wait in line for it to be released?
